Effective January 1, 2025, Blue Shield of California will become the new administrator for CalPERS PPO plans. For members in a Basic PPO plan, CalPERS is partnering with Blue Shield and Included Health to offer personalized health services, which include support for mental health and well-being, and a variety of in-person and virtual care options.

Medicare PPO members (PERS Gold or PERS Platinum): Refer to Blue Shield of California for details about your behavioral health coverage.

Accessing Behavioral Health Benefits

  1. Find an In-Network Behavioral Health Provider

    • Concierge Referral: If you prefer more personalized assistance, Included Health can help you find and schedule an appointment with a local, in-network behavioral health provider. Included Health identifies the best-matched providers for your specific needs. They also ensure that your patient records are collected and shared seamlessly between your healthcare providers, making your care comprehensive and coordinated.
  2. Schedule a Virtual Behavioral Health Visit
    • Virtual Behavioral Health Care: Included Health offers convenient virtual mental health care, including psychiatry services, available seven days a week by appointment. You can book a virtual visit with a licensed therapist or psychiatrist, receiving personalized care from the comfort of your home. During these sessions, mental health professionals will evaluate your needs based on your health history and symptoms, offering tailored guidance, follow-up care, and prescriptions if necessary.
