How to Become a Member-at-Large Candidate
Eligibility – Who Can Run?
Any active California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) member is eligible to be nominated if they are:
- 18 years of age or older
- A California resident
- Employed by a CalPERS-covered agency on March 17, 2025, the date of the Notice of Election (PDF)
A retired CalPERS member is eligible to be nominated if they are:
- A California resident
- Retired from a CalPERS-covered agency on or before March 17, 2025, the date of the Notice of Election (PDF)
The Nomination Process
Each potential candidate must submit the required Nomination Petition information. For nomination criteria, refer to the Notice of Election. Only Nomination Petition forms supplied by CalPERS, or a copy of that form, will be acceptable.
All Nomination Petitions containing valid original signatures must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time (PT) on May 15, 2025, at the CalPERS Sacramento office in accordance with the Notice of Election. The nominee will be notified by the Board Election Coordinator whether the eligibility and nomination requirements have been met.
