Michael Detoy was appointed to the CalPERS Board of Administration in February 2025, serving on the panel as the representative for local government elected officials.
Michael has served on the Hermosa Beach City Council since 2019, including a term as mayor, and was re-elected in November 2024. Michael has been a resident of Hermosa Beach since 2010 and is a captain for the City of Riverside Fire Department, where he has worked since 2011. Additionally, he is a fiduciary trustee of the International Association of Fire Fighters Retiree Medical Trust, managing over $300 million in assets and over 20,000 participating members and retirees from over 200 participating local agencies across the United States.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Santa Clara University and a Master of Public Administration degree from California Baptist University.
