Bill McGrew

Head of Investment Talent & Culture

William Sherwood-McGrew was appointed head of investment talent and culture in July 2022. He brings over 25 years of investment and pension fund industry experience to the role.

As an investment manager and a strategic business partner to CalPERS Human Resources, he leads a talent and culture management model focused on recruiting, developing, and retaining diverse talent to manage the Public Employees’ Retirement Fund and Affiliate Investment Program. He also chairs the Investment Underwriting Committee, which provides oversight for capital deployment across global public and private investment markets.

Since joining the Investment Office in 2001, Bill has focused on strategic investment management, corporate governance, sustainable investing, team and business development, operational planning, talent management, asset allocation, and stakeholder engagement.

He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in strategic management from California State University, Sacramento. Bill resides in Lincoln, California.
